Our Story
Once upon a time, Johor Bahru was less developed (and more crime free); a time when there were still Chicken farms in Taman Daya; and Wen Tak & Angela's parents were business neighbours on Jalan Serampang.
Mr and Mrs Wong Mok Siw and Mr and Mrs Ho Hang Heng were already friends and their children, Wen Tak and Angela played together.
Wen Tak break danced and Angela dressed pretty, and they celebrated Wen Tak's 3rd birthday together.
Fast forward 23 years later, Wen Tak and Angela found themselves as business neighbours - this time, Wen Tak worked at M.S. Wong & Co and Angela had established Niniq Bistro and Bakery opposite.
Wen Tak ate at Niniq a few times but they never interacted.
One night, Wen Tak took his KL friend to "check out the hot lady boss" at Niniq, and by chance, the restaurant was quiet and Angela sat down to chat.
Soon after, Angela called her accountants to ask for the boss's son number, apparently to invite him to her church fellowship and they met for their first dinner ("not a date") together.
In the midst of a busy function, Angela and Tak shared a bottle of wine and great conversation.
They started meeting up for business lunches after that.
Trouble came knocking soon after - Angela lost her head baker abruptly and had to start baking at 6am each morning; and Tak crashed his car on New Year's Day.
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Tak now had a reason to ask Angela to pick him up every morning to go to work together.
In such distressful times, love blossomed.
Two years later, on the 11th of August 2008, Wen Tak managed to lure Angela to his house and amongst rose petals and paper strips, he got down on his knees and proposed.
Angela asked whether Wen Tak had asked for her parents' approval first, and after that, she agreed.
They are now engaged.
On the 18th of April 2009, a new chapter will begin ...
![]() ![]() Wen Tak's Reflection
"For me, our love story is also a demonstration of God's great Love and Grace, and I thank God for the blessings he has given to me and Angela to get us where we are today.
Just before I met Angela, my atheist beliefs were at its strongest due to the influence of Richard Dawkins.
My car accident on 1st January 2007 was a wake-up call of how many times God's mercy was upon me and being brought to Vision Church opened my eyes to how foolish I had been.
I had been exposed to Christianity through my good friends in Oxford, but I was always held back by my doubts and never had the faith.
During the first three months of 2007, it was as though a veil had been lifted from my eyes and now I can see.
It was also during this time I knew that Angela was the one I wanted to marry.
Our love story is one of sweet deep love, but also one of many bitter trials and tribulations, and it is the latter which has helped us to experience the love of God together, and strengthened our bond as a couple.
Thank you Angela, for putting up with my job; for learning how to deal with my peculiar behaviour; for standing by me no matter how difficult things have been.
With Angela, I know we can get through anything, and that confirms to me why she is the one for me."
Angela's Reflection
I am very excited about our wedding, not just because it is supposed to be the most important day of our lives, but because we get to spend the rest of our lives together.
We are really grateful to our families, Church and friends, especially to our respective parents for their patience, support and blessings.
Without you, our relationship wouldn't be where it is today.
Wen Tak, over the last two years, I have often wished that you were home more often, but I guess that just made me cherish my love for you more, and not to take you for granted when you are back!
I really look forward to life after the wedding when we settle down, when you don't travel any more, and when we can do all the simple things in life together.
You are the one person that truly gets me, who can laugh with me, cry with me and the only one I want with me always.
I love you.

Directions from new Customs CIQ to JB Vision Church and Grand Paragon Hotel
![]() The new Customs Complex has just opened. The route is slightly different. When you leave customs, you should see Lion City Hotel on your right. At the fork, turn left and go straight.
![]() Keep to the left side of the road. About 3 mins after turning, there is an exit on the left side. Turn and keep to the centre lane. Here you see an exceedingly stupid junction where the left most lane leads to town and the right most lane is a U-turn.
![]() After the traffic lights, turn right and go straight. You should see Citibank on your left and Plaza Pelangi on your right.
To go to Grand Paragon Hotel, turn left at the traffic lights opposite Plaza Pelangi at Jalan Harimau and you will see the hotel shortly after on your right.
Otherwise, go straight at the traffic lights and keep to the left side. There will be a fork and another set of traffic lights on your right shortly after. Ignore that.
![]() After the next set of traffic lights (the one that brings you to the market on the right) keep left.
![]() Turn left on the next turn into Jalan Beringin (there is a Caltex Station there). Go straight until you see a school on the left side. The church is just next to the school.
If you miss this turning, do not panic. The next left turn through Jalan Chengai will take you to the church. After turning left, just go straight until you come to the end of that road. Turn right and look for a parking space. The church is just there.
If you miss that one as well, turn left at the next road, Jalan Kebun Teh where you will pass by Foon Yew (1). At the second traffic light, turn left into Jalan Beringin and you will see the church on the right side shortly after.
If you miss that one too, stop by the road and call someone.
Webmaster's addendum: If you have no one to call, you're gone case.

Johor, the Southern Gateway
Johor, the southern gateway and third largest state in Peninsula Malaysia is the keeper of many national and natural treasures untold.
It is a delightful mixture of the traditional and modern, and natural and ultra-modern urban jungles.
Highlights and Attractions
Johor is divided into eight districts: Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru, Kluang, Kota Tinggi, Mersing, Muar, Pontian, and Segamat, the largest of these being Johor Bahru which is the state capital.
Visitors commonly head for Johor Bahru's royal palaces and lively night markets, considered as some of the state's best attractions.
The state's islands are a tourist attraction with their stretches of white sandy beaches and sparkling waters which beckons all and sundry to snorkel, scuba dive, wind-surf, sail and even reel in a fish or two.
Johor's five national parks are a wonderful representation of the sheer bio-diversity that is the state's natural heritage: botanical and wildlife paradise of Endau Rompin, the mangrove island of Kukup, the "mother of all dead ends" wetland of Tanjung Piai, the mysterious and legendary Gunung Ledang, and the heavenly Mersing islands.
